ABOUT ME
I utilize human centered design to solve complex problems in society. As a designer, I have expertise in ethnographic research that allows me to immerse and understand communities from a holistic perspective. I most enjoy surfacing problems by connecting with end-users to design innovative and sustainable solutions.
My background in design is nontraditional but unique. I trained in human centered design and economic development at the University of Michigan. I have a diverse background and experience in many industries: disaster recovery, automotive supply chain, and Mobility as a Service (MaaS).
Outside of work, I am busy reading, kayaking, launching my first podcast, and rooting for Michigan football (Go BLUE!). I also travel to India once a year to work on agriculture and education projects.
My journey in design started when…
I traveled to India as a teenager and first-hand saw the economic disparities within the country. I witnessed the vicious cycle of poverty and its impact on society. I was obsessed with diving deeper into communities to understand the root causes of societal problems. Many questions ran through my mind: What causes poverty? How do you solve challenges of society to increase quality of life? Why is someone not doing anything about this problem?
Ironically, I found my answers in more questions…
Why not me? Why can’t I do something to address these challenges? Why can’t I be a part of the solution? This aha! moment sparked my interest in connecting with people to holistically understand their challenges and transform them into opportunities. I decided to combine my education in economic development with technology and design to address problems in society.
